Baptized Joseph Adrien Leblanc. Son of Napoléon Leblanc and Joséphine Gareau, of Montréal, Québec. Husband of Èva Soucy (married in 1909), of Montréal, Québec. He stated being born in 1889 and being single when he enlisted.
A founding member, enlisted in the 22nd Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force, he sailed for Great Britain on May 20, 1915, and landed in Plymouth, England, on the 29th. On September 15, he crossed the English Channel and landed in Boulogne, Pas-de-Calais, France. On January 25, 1916, while serving in Vierstraat, Belgium, he accidentally shot himself in the abdomen; the bullet also struck his left thigh. After being transported to various aid stations, he died on February 29, 1916, at the 15th Canadian Casualty Clearing Station in Hazebrouck, Nord. He was buried there the same day.

An entry recording the soldier's death in my Grandfather's Operations Book. My Grandfather was a nurse who assisted in operations in the Casualty Clearance Station. (surgeons name on right of page) -
