Baptized Roger-Henri-Tancrède-Lucien Huot. Only son of Tancrède Huot (deceased in 1927) and Blanche Senécal, of Montréal, Québec. He stated being born in 1891 and that his mother was a widow when he enlisted. He died of multiples wounds sustained the day before.

Licensed Druggist; Graduate from Montreal Laval University. Was Lt. in 85th F.C. Bn., a Home Regt.

He enlisted in the 178th Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force after serving as a cadet and then as a lieutenant in the 85th Battalion (which would later become the Régiment de Maisonneuve) from November 9, 1915, to March 8, 1916. He sailed for Great Britain on August 21 with the 178th Battalion and landed in Liverpool, England, on the 30th. On December 8, he was assigned to the 69th Reserve Battalion in Seaford, and on January 4, 1917, to the 10th Reserve Battalion. On July 9, 1917, he was transferred to the 22nd Battalion, and on the 10th, he crossed over to France to join his new unit on the front lines on the 14th. On August 15, he was seriously wounded during the fighting on Hill 70 during the Battle of Lens while stepping into the German trench. On the 16th, he was evacuated to the 33rd Canadian Casualty Clearing Station in Rouen, Normandy, where he died that same day.

Bethune is located 29 kilometres north of Arras.

The BETHUNE TOWN CEMETERY is on the northern outskirts of Bethune near the junction of the River Lawe and the Aire la Bassee Canal. From the town centre turn right in front of the Tribunal and second right at the bottom of the road down to the cul de sac.
