Distinguished Conduct Medal. London Gazette # 29438 "For conspicuous gallantry and ability. Sgt Richardson, when orders were passed in English by enemy¿s officers, sensing trouble, gave orders to his men to disregard all instructions from the right, one of the orders passed was to surrender, and that they were surrounded. His disregard of this order, and his prompt action, following it, saved the situation. For several months his bravery and example have inspired all ranks with him. 1914-15 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal.
