Percy Bruce Crosswell was shot by a German guard while trying to escape at Stalag IIIA, Luckenwalde Germany, after surviving the "Long March" of January 1945 from Stalag Luft 7 in Bankau. This image is taken from the diary of Robert E. Toomey, a fellow POW who wrote: "P.B. Crosswell, (A/G), Shot and seriously wounded attempting to escape on 13-4-45. Died today at 11:45 AM 13-4-45 due to wounds. Buried on Tues 17-4-45 at Stalag III-A cemetery." -
