Sapper William Henderson
William Henderson (front row, first on the left) attested with the 157th Overseas Battalion C.E.F. in Alliston on November 21, 1915. Previously, he served in the 36th Regiment Active Militia for seven years. After going overseas, he was transferred to the 9th Battalion, Canadian Engineers. His attestation papers indicate that he was a stone cutter by trade. He was killed in action in the vicinity of Villers-les-Cagnicourt, France. He was survived by his wife, Bella Henderson and his infant son, William Douglas Haig Henderson.
