Son of Maxime Boily and Emma Tremblay of St-Hilarion et Montréal, Québec.
His mother died in Montréal in 1917; his father then went back to St-Hilarion where he died in 1920.
From the 69th Reserve Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force, he was transferred to the 22nd Battalion on 27 Septembe 1916. On 16 October, he was fighting at Bully-Grenay, Pas-de-Calais, France. Shot and wounded on 9 April 1917 during the Battle of Vimy Ridge, Pas-de-Calais, he returned to action on 6 August to take part in the Battle of Amiens, Nord. He was killed in action on 28 August during the Battle of Chérisy.
