Baptized Joseph-Wilfrid Guillemette. Son of Anaclet Guillemette and Célina Richard, of Sherbrooke, Québec. Husband of Rose-de-Lima « Alma » Lévesque, of Mont-Joli, Bas-St-Laurent, Québec. He was father of Joseph Armand Rolland, Marie Rose, Joseph Ferdinand Lucien, Joseph François Xavier, Marie Rose Lisette Guillemette.
Enlisted in the 189th Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force, he sailed for Great Britain on September 23, 1916, and arrived in Liverpool, England, on October 6. Upon his arrival, he was assigned to the 69th Reserve Battalion. On November 12, he was transferred to the 22nd Battalion. On the 13th, he departed from Folkestone for France, arriving in Boulogne, Pas-de-Calais, that same day. He joined his new unit at the front on December 2. From December 6, 1916, to March 27, 1917, he was seconded to the 2nd Canadian Entrenchment Battalion. Upon his return to the 22nd Battalion, he was severely wounded to the head during the assault on Hill 70 in Lens and he died of his wounds at a forward position of No. 7 Casualty clearing station.
