Baptized Joseph-Louis Frenette.

Son of Napoléon Frenette and Victoria Boutet, of Québec. Brother of Private Lauréat Frenette, service number 3280794, enlisted on May 23, 1918, in Quebec City and declared a deserter on March 28, 1919, after months of absence.

Enlisted in the 189th Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force, he sailed for Great Britain on September 23, 1916, and landed in Liverpool, England, on October 6. On the 11th, he was assigned to the 69th Reserve Battalion, and on November 12, he was transferred to the 22nd Battalion. He crossed into France on the 13th and landed in Boulogne, Pas-de-Calais, on the same day. From December 6, 1916, to February 21, 1917, he was loaned to the 2nd Canadian Entrenchment Battalion before returning to his unit. He was killed in action on July 21, 1917, during the Battle of Lens, Pas-de-Calais, on Hill 70.

LOOS BRITISH CEMETERY Pas de Calais, France

Loos (Loos-en-Gohelle) is a village to the north of the road from Lens to Bethune. From Lens, take the N43 towards Bethune. Arriving at Loos, turn right at CWGC sign post. The LOOS BRITISH CEMETERY is about 1 kilometre from Loos Church in the southern part of the village.
