Son of Henry Larocque and Ludivine (Lividia) Massé, of Montreal, Québec. He had declared his birth date as the 27th when he enlisted.
He had previously served with the 22nd Battalion in Canada and deserted after six months of service when the unit was about to go overseas. Then, four months later, he re-enlisted with another battalion.
He initially enlisted in Montreal on October 11, 1914, with the 22nd Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force, under service number 708. After deserting in April 1915, he was officially declared a deserter on April 28 and struck off strength. Although scheduled to sail overseas on May 29, he instead re-enlisted in Montreal on August 27, 1915, with Company A of the 69th Battalion under service number 120667.
He departed for Great Britain on April 17, 1916, arriving in Liverpool on April 27. Following temporary postings to the 10th Reserve Battalion on January 4, 1917, and the 22nd Battalion on April 17, 1917, he crossed to France the following day, landing at Le Havre. He rejoined the 22nd Battalion on April 30 while it was resting after the Battle of Vimy Ridge.
He was killed in action at Angres, Pas-de-Calais, during the Battle of Lens on July 28, 1917. Initially buried at Caldron, near Lens, his remains were later exhumed and reinterred at Loos.

LOOS BRITISH CEMETERY Pas de Calais, France
Loos (Loos-en-Gohelle) is a village to the north of the road from Lens to Bethune. From Lens, take the N43 towards Bethune. Arriving at Loos, turn right at CWGC sign post. The LOOS BRITISH CEMETERY is about 1 kilometre from Loos Church in the southern part of the village.
