Burial/memorial information

Grave reference: XVIII. C. 9-10 (Jt.)
Additional information

Son of Henry A. and Catherine Lucy (Pinhey) Drummond, of Toronto, Ontario. A graduate of the Royal Military College, Kingston, Ontario. Embarked for France, Sept., 1914.

Lieutenant Lindsay Drummond was killed in air combat on 18 May 1917. He was buried in a German war cemetery. Because he was misidentified in German war records, he was believed to have no known grave and was commemorated at the Arras Flying Services Memorial in France.

Almost a century later, Belgian First World War researchers Dick and Mieke Decuypere located his burial site after several years of investigation. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission confirmed the location of Lieutenant Lindsay Drummond's grave in 2017.

A dignified re-interment was conducted at the Cement House Cemetery in Langmark-Poelkapelle, Belgium, along with two other Canadian fallen airmen, Second Lieutenant Robert Smith Bennie and Lieutenant Thomas Arthur Metheral.
