His father remarried to Célina Mathieu in 1913.
He declared being born on January 25, 1885 on his enlistment document.
Enlisted in the 41st Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force, he landed in Plymouth, England, on June 28, 1915. Assigned to the 23rd Battalion on September 10, he arrived in France with the 22nd Battalion on the 15th. On September 15, 1916, he was reported missing in action during the Battle of Courcelette. On July 7, 1917, he was presumed killed in action.

His name as it is inscribed on the Vimy Memorial. Over 11,000 fallen Canadians having no known place of burial in France, are honoured on this Memorial. May they never be forgotten. (J. Stephens) -
