His name as it is inscribed on the Vimy Memorial. Over 11,000 fallen Canadians having no known place of burial in France, are honoured on this Memorial. May they never be forgotten. (J. Stephens) -

SGT. DAVID A F DICKSON, CANADIANS. David Alexander Fraser Dickson, Sergeant (874202) 78th Battalion, Canadian Infantry (Manitoba Regiment). Age 30. David was for three years an accountant with the Union Bank in Dalbeattie, a footballer with Dalbeattie Star and a member of the town's pipe band. He went to Canada in 1910 and worked for the Bank of Montreal. He was a notary public when he enlisted in February 1916 at Miniota, Manitoba. He sailed from Canada in October 1916 and joined his battalion in France in February 1917. Less than two months later he was killed at Vimy Ridge. Born 1887 at Kilmarnock, Ayrshire. Son of the late William Dickson and of Jemima Jane (Fairlie) Dickson of 6 Victoria Terrace, Prestwick, Ayrshire. Missing in Action on 9 April 1917 and named on the Vimy Memorial, France. Also named on the Miniota War Memorial and on the Kilmarnock War Memorial, together with his brother Charles F. Dickson Private (2752) 9th HLI who died on 14 February 1915.
