His full name is Albert (aka Alfred) Alderman Eavis.

 

Son of George William Eavis and Elizabeth Ann Keepinf, of Ramea, Newfoundland. Husband of Mary Beatrice Hickman, of Rame. Father of Alfred Alderman and Amelia Ethel Eavis, of Chidred, Grand Bank, Newfoundland.

Two cousins, Morgan and Thomas Eavis, also perished with the wreck of this vessel.

The Douglas Haig sailed from St. John's, Newfoundland, for Alicante, Spain, and was reported missing on February 1, 1917. Neither the ship nor the five crew members were seen again. No German warship has claimed to have sunk her.
