This is Annie Mary Close Ashton and her son, Edward George Ashton, who was born June 15, 1916 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. His father was killed about a year after this photo was taken. Ed's father, Richard George Ashton, died in Belgium when Ed was 17 months old. Richard never saw his son as he was born after he enlisted. -
