Photo of John C. Oxborough
John C Oxborough, known as Chauncey to his friends, was born 28 Sep 1889, son of George William Oxborough, an Army Chaplain in India. He went to Canada before the war, after his Father remarried in 1895. Chauncey's brother, William Madden Oxborough, was also in the 2nd CMRs, but was wounded and ended up in Bristol Royal Infirmary, England and so survived. Chauncey died in the trenches from a shrapnel injury to his head. He was loved by his comrades and the letter home was written by JK Moffat. -
