Anderson, Douglas Thomas - Lieutenant. Born 4th August, 1916, at Shallow Lake, Ont. Educated at Strathcona Public School, and Owen Sound Collegiate and Vocational Institute. Entered the service of the Bank 21st January, 1935. Served at branches in Ontario. Enlisted 1st August, 1941, from Coboconk in R.C.A. Second Lieutenant 13th August, 1942; Lieutenant 20th August, 1942. Transferred to The Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Highlanders 20th August, 1942. Overseas in March, 1943. Transferred to The Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment 23rd September, 1943. MORO RIVER CANADIAN WAR CEMETERY Italy
The Moro River Canadian War Cemetery lies in the locality of San Donato in the Commune of Ortona, Province of Chieti, and is sited on high ground near the sea just east of the main Adriatic coast road (SS16). The cemetery can be reached from Rome on the autostrada A25 (Rome-Pescara) by branching on the autostrada A14 and leaving it at Ortona. The approach road to the cemetery from the main road passes under an arch forming part of the little church of San Donato. The cemetery is permanently open and may be visited anytime.
