Military Medal (London Gazette, No. 29719, dated August 23, 1916) "For exceptional courage and bravery at Maple Copse on 2nd, June 1916, whilst superintending the operations at a certain point, for three days he displayed great devotion to duty and when finally wounded he refused to be attended to and carried on with his work until again wounded in the head."

This form describes the actually location (with map reference number) of Corporal Roe orginal place of burial; June 30th, 2016. The form states " Previously reported wounded, now reported killed. Buried in the area between Maple Corps & Santuary Wood. (Map reference) I.24.a.4.1. Grave marked by a bottle which contains name, number, regiment."
