Friend, Edwin Dixon - Lieutenant. Born 31st March, 1919, at Oshawa, Ont. Educated at Ritson Road School, and Collegiate and Vocational Institute, Oshawa. Entered the service of the Bank 1st February, 1938. Served at Oshawa. Enlisted 15th October, 1941, from that branch in Canadian Armoured Corps, Wireless Wing. Corporal 4th December, 1941; Second Lieutenant 20th April, 1942; Lieutenant 3rd July, 1942. Trained at Camp Borden, Ont. Graduated from Officers' Training Centre, Brockville, Ont., in April, 1942. Served with 26th Army Tank Regiment (The Grey and Simcoe Foresters) from November, 1942. Overseas in June, 1943. Transferred to 3rd Canadian Reconnaissance Regiment (The Governor General's Horse Guards) 14th September, 1943. Served in North Africa and Italy. Reported (3rd September, 1944) to have died of wounds received in action in Italy. <br><i>From a memorial booklet prepared by the Canadian Bank of Commerce.</i>

MONTECCHIO WAR CEMETERY Italy
The War Cemetery lies in the locality of Montecchio in the Commune of Montelabbate (Province of Pesaro). It stands on rising ground just North of the main road from Pesaro to Urbino, about 12 kilometres west of Pesaro. If approaching by car, take the road 423 from Pesaro to Urbino, following the signs for Montecchio. Just before entering the town, the Cemetery will be seen on the right hand side of the road.
