Military service
Burial/memorial information
Son of George and Laura Rosenberger. Husband of Ida M. Rosenberger, of Orillia, Ontario.
Private Rosenberger originally served with the Lincoln and Welland Regiment. He died while serving with The Queen's Own Riffles of Canada. He was wounded in action at Giberville (near Caen, France) on July 18 and died the next day. Shortly before his death, he had been transferred to The Queen's Own Rifles of Canada. His grave marker shows he served with the Lincoln and Welland Regiment because the shoulder flashes on his uniform would not yet have been changed. He was one of many soldiers that had been transferred between regiments during the Normandy fighting.

David Rosenberger service portrait,
This is a digital copy of his original photo, with a touch of color added, as they did back then. Does it matter that he was married twice? My mother was the only child from the first marriage. -
