His full name is Wilbert Maynard Crossley.

Son of Maurice (Morris) Wilbert Crossley and Mary Philema Rolfe, of Bramber, Hants, Nova Scotia.

On 3 April 1941, the Indier was sailing with convoy SC-26 towards Glasgow, Scotland, when she was torpedoed at 5:12 am by U-73 east-south-east of Cape Farewell, Iceland. She sank in less than a minute, in position 58°13'N/27°36'W, with 42 crew members and two gunners. The captain and three sailors were rescued by HMS Navelock (H88) and landed in Liverpool, England on the 8th.
