Son of Absalom B. Faulkner and Lydia Arabella Duncanson, of Hantsport, Hants, Nova Scotia. Husband of Margaret Eunice Latimer, of Port Williams, Nova Scotia. Father of Cassie Eunie, Roy Everett and Ralph Wright Faulkner.

On 29 May 1942, at 02:17 am, the Western Head was sailing unescorted when she was torpedoed by U-107 50 miles (70 km) east of Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and sank in Windward Passage, position 19°57'N/74°18'W.
