Son of Albert Garrahan and Jamesina McLellan, of Montréal, Québec.

On 2 March 1941, at 0.46 am, after moving away from convoy HX-109 due to a rudder failure, she was torpedoed by U-95 105 miles (169 km) north of Rockall and sank by the stern in less than 90 seconds, position 58°40'N/13°40'W. The captain, 32 crew members and one gunner lost their lives. The sole survivor was rescued by the Icelandic trawler Dora, which landed him in Fleetwood, England, on 5 March.
