Son of Charles Newcomb Goodspeed and Catherine Jane Mitchell, of Barker's Point, New Brunswick.

Mrs. Goodspeed was a member of the Remembrance Association, Silver Cross Women of Canada, Wheat City Chapter, Brandon, Manitoba.

At 0:15 am on 29 October 1942, the Bic Island was torpedoed and sunk by U-224 southwest of Rockall, an isolated rock between Ireland and Iceland, position 55°05'N/23°27'W.
