Burial/memorial information
On 16 February 1940, Castlemoor left the port of Halifax, Nova Scotia, for the Tees, England, with convoy HX-20. She was last seen by the cargo ship SS Merchant Royal on the 25th about 800 miles (1,288 km) west of Ushant, Finistère, France. Her crew of 41 sailors under the command of Captain Robert Lisle was never seen again. No submarine claimed to have sunk it.
