Son of Robert Redhead and Sarah Ann Lee, of Victoria, British Columbia.

Enlisted in the 17th Fortress Company of the Royal Canadian Engineer - NPAM - matricula 60, at Esquimalt, British Columbia, from April 25th to November 19th, 1935, then in the 5th Army Field Workshop of the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps in Victoria and transferred to the 11th Flight Signals Company of the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals on February 21st, 1941 to also serve in Ontario and Hong Kong with C Force. He had 1,117 days of service, including 338 overseas.
