Son of William Edward Rodgers and Jessie Elizabeth Black, of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Husband of Vera Isabel Martin, of Winnipeg. Father of Marsha Roslyn Rodgers.

Brother of Lance Corporal William Amann Ridgers, regimental number H-6759, 2ic Section, Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion Winnipeg Grenadiers, taken as a prisoner of war in Hong Kong. Survived the war.

Served with the 2nd Battalion Winnipeg Grenadiers - NPAM - Regimental Number 1423 from November 29th, 1932 to 1939 and then with the 1st Battalion Winnipeg Grenadiers for service in Manitoba, Bermuda with B Force, Jamaica with Y Force and Hong Kong with C Force. He had 834 days of service, including 55 overseas.

To commemorate his sacrifice, the Manitoba government named Rodgers Peninsula located on Bestick Lake in his honor in 1995.
