Additional information

Son of John Benson Williams and Eliza Ann Quinn, of Québec City. Husband of Agar Clair Baillargé, of Québec City. Brother-in-law of Charles Philippe Ferdinand Baillargé, service number 4040109, who served in Canada and England and fought in France with the 13th Battalion, CEF, then with the 5th 5th Canadian Machine Gun; he survived the war.

Gerard served with the active militia, Royal Rifles of Canada, in Québec, from 1921. He was enrolled with the regular forces as lieutenant, service number X-79, on 3 September 1940, and posted to the 1st Battalion to serve in Québec, in New Brunswick, in Newfoundland with Force W, in Hong Kong with Force C as commander of 5th Pionner Platoon Headquarters, attached to the Royal Rifles of Canada.
