Lancaster III JB725 of 57 (RAF) Sqn. took off 21:23 from its base at East Kirkby on a Gardening (Mining) operation in the Baltic Sea.<P>
On its way to the target area JB725 was attacked by a German night fighter while flying at 4000 metres altitude. The Lancaster caught fire, exploded in the air and crashed to the ground south of the village of Jelling at 23:48 hours killing the whole crew.<P>
On 15/4 1944 the remains of the crew was laid to rest in one grave in Fourfelt cemetery in Esbjerg.<P>
The crew were: P/O (BA) Harold Quinn RCAF, P/O Jack Finch RAAF, F/Sgt Albert I. Rands RAAF, and RAF Sgts John G. Robson, Robert Smedley, Harry B. West,
and Francis J.H. Garrick.

Esbjerg is a port in south-western Jutland. ESBJERG (FOURFELT) CEMETERY is about 3 kilometres to the north of the town, off the road to Hjerting, along the Gravlundvej.
