Husband of Mrs. James MarThe Pizarro was en route in convoy to Gibraltar when she was torpedoed by the Italian submarine Dandalo 650 nautical miles (748 miles/1,204km) off Cape Finisterre, Spain, and 700 miles (1,127km) west of Bishop Rock in the North Atlantic, position 49°03'N/19°40'W. The attack killed 23 of the 29 crew members. The 6 survivors were rescued by the SS MacBraie, which landed them in Lisbon, Portugal. a, of Vancouver, British Columbia.
