Harvey Todd warned his men to to careful about stepping on mines, and ironically it was a mine he stepped on that took his life. The day before his death, it is reported all the officers in his battalion were killed, except one lieutenant, and that morning the lieutenant was killed so Harvey was in charge of the whole battalion. He kept telling them to be careful of land mines and they were running into gun fire all the time so Harvey and a few others got strayed to the left of the others trying to move around the gun nest. They had thrown everything they could at the gun nest, grenades, etc. and still they found it almost too much so were trying to get around it. They were walking up a road to get back to their company when Harvey stepped on a mine. -
