He was baptized catholically on October 13th, 1907 under the name François Alexandre Cormier.

Son of Joseph Irma (alias Hermas) Cormier and Marie Elizabeth Dubé. Husband of Ruby Renouf and father of Ivan, Elizabeth 'Betty' and Shirley Cormier of New Richmond, Québec. Brother of Private Arthur Cormier, who fought in Europe during the Second World War. He survived the conflict.

Served in Québec, New Brunswick, Newfoundland with Force W, Hong Kong with Force C. He had 515 days of service, including 59 overseas.
