Royal Canadian Mounted Police
Cst. Sarah Beckett was born in Calgary, and grew up in Victoria, British Columbia. She died when her police car was struck by a driver who had failed to stop for another officer on April 5, 2016 in Langford, British Columbia.
She demonstrated an early interest in police work and attended the Vancouver Island Police Camp after graduating high school. She joined the RCMP in February 2005, and upon graduation she was posted to Port McNeill detachment in British Columbia.
Her community involvement and strong investigational skills became apparent and she was transferred to the Vancouver Island Major Crime Unit. After having her first son, Cst. Beckett returned to general duty policing at West Shore detachment.
Cst. Beckett is remembered as a true asset to her team; one who was always willing to help others. Her real love in life was raising her two young sons, Lucas and Emmitt, and spending time with her husband and family.
