Trooper Whitford was on a 30 mile trip by horse drawn wagon to catch the train back to Camp after leave.
it was December and he was traveling with his little brother, the mud road was rutted and slippery. the wagon overturned and he was crushed 4 miles short of the town. the photos are of him as he left his fathers cabin, and of 4 men who attended his funeral.
