The Concentration of Graves (Exhumation and Reburials) BURIAL RETURN shows that Private McKinlay was exhumed from trench map coordinates 51b.B.6.d.50.85, which places his remain northeast of the woods at Arleux-en-Gohelle, on the east side of Brandy Trench. Modern day GPS coordinates for that location are approximately 50.364486, 2.881878 (50°21'52.2"N 2°52'54.8"E).

His name as it is inscribed on the Vimy Memorial (2010). Over 11,000 fallen Canadians having no known place of burial in France, are honoured on this Memorial. He was later found and placed at Cemetery #2. May he never be forgotten. (J. Stephens)

CANADIAN CEMETERY No. 2 Pas de Calais, France
The CANADIAN CEMETERY No. 2 is about 2.5 kilometres north of the village of Neuville-St. Vaast. The village is about 6 kilometres north of Arras and 1 kilometre east of the main road from Arras to Bethune. The cemetery is on a spur road turning left from the road to Givenchy-en-Gohelle, about 1 kilometre south of the Canadian Memorial at Vimy.
