Additional information
Baptized Joseph-Napoléon Brière (Paul was a name derivative of Napoléon). Son of Siméon Brière and Agnès Sévigny (deceased in 1900). His father remarried to Marguerite Demers in 1901 and died in 1905. Napoléon named his brother Ernest, of Daveluyville, Nicolet, as next of kin and heir, when he enlisted.

Enlisted in the 57th Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force, he arrived in England on 28 June 1915. Transferred to the 22nd Battalion on 1 November 1915, he went to France the same day.

Suffering from an acute bronchitis, he was hospitalized in France in March 1916 and was evacuated to England two weeks later. Admitted to the 1st London General Hospital, he was diagnosed with tuberculosis and died two months later.
