Son of William Bridger. Husband of Alice Dodds, South Shields. Born in Newfoundland.

On September 3, 1917, at 7:45 a.m., UB-30 fired a torpedo at the Ragnhild, which was hit and began to partially sink 14 miles (22.5 km) south-east of Flamborough Head, off the Yorkshire coast of England. A tug picked her up but the wreckage sank before reaching safety. Of the crew, fifteen died and four were rescued.
