Son of Charles Alfred Williamson and Bessie Caroline Hollyman of 26, Rosemont Avenue, North Finchley, London, England. Charles served for 21 years with the British Army 1st Dragoons, regimental number 50799, became an Instructor Sergeant, regimental number 3122, of the Army Gymnastic Staff from 1898 to 10 January 1910. Discharged with the rank of Company Instructor Sergeant Major. He became a policeman.

This steam and sail cargo ship was torpedoed by UC-77 on 15 April 1918 in the English Channel 9 miles (14.5 km) northwest of Portland Bill, England. A total of 55 people lost their lives.
