Additional information

Baptized Louis Cyrille Ferdinand Lavoie. Son of Sylvio Lavoie and Lucia Rioux, of Le Bic, Rimouski, Québec. Brother of Privates Joseph Lavoie and Lucien Lavoie. They survived the war.

Enlisted in Company B of the Royal 22nd Regiment, he stated that he had served with the Fusilier du Saint-Laurent from July 1938 until his enlistment in 1939. He sailed for Great Britain on December 9, 1939, and disembarked at Greenock, Scotland, on the 18th. On August 1, 1940, he shot himself in the chest while on guard duty. He was transported to the Royal Surrey Hospital in Guildford, Surrey, England, where he died on the 2nd at 9:03 p.m. He was buried on the 6th at Brookwood Military Cemetery in Surrey, in grave number 202326, which was later renumbered 3.O.7.
