Additional information

Son of Charles Payne Dicks and Mary Collier of Burgeo, Newfoundland. Charles was a merchant seaman and survived the sinking of his ship in 1919. Otto was the brother of Seaman Lester Dorman Dicks, who perished when the SS Geo. H. Jones by U-455 on February 14, 1942. Lester was not a member of the Canadian Merchant Navy.

He died at sea of influenza with a chronic coughing disorder. His body was submerged in the North Atlantic.
