On 6 March 1945, the Green Hill Park was loading her cargo in the port of Vancouver, British Columbia, when a violent explosion shattered the windows of houses in the city centre. Six stevedores and two sailors lost their lives and 19 people were injured. Firefighters managed to beach the ship near Siwash Rock and she will be repaired.
