Burial/memorial information
Son of Albert Richard Mattingley and Elizabeth Biggs of Toronto, Ontario.
Enlisted in January 1942, he had lied about his age, claiming to be 19, when in fact he was only 17. On 14 March 1942, he was emptying a container when he was thrown overboard by a wave that hit the ship. The Montcalm turned around and launched a dinghy, but Mattingley sank before it arrived.
