Son of Alice M. Evans of West Point Camberley, Surrey, England. Lieutenant Evans had previous with the Canadian Artillery, "C" Battery in the South African War. He stated that he was single and employed as a rancher. For a period of time,prior to the war, he was engaged in fruit farming in the Province of Ontario, then returned to ranching. He joined the Alberta Dragoons and went to France with the first contingent.

The Arras Flying Services Memorial is in the Faubourg-d'Amiens Cemetery, which is in the Boulevard du General de Gaulle in the western part of the town of Arras, near the Citadel, approximately 2 kilometres due west of the railway station.
