Baptized Francis-Albert Auger. Son of Francis Auger (deceased in 1909) and Almina Dufour (remarried in 1911 to Jean Allard), of Châteauguay, Québec. He stated being two years older and declared being born in 1896 when he enlisted. He named his sister Almina (wife of Eugène Trottier), of Montréal, as legal heiress.

He took part in the Battle of Caëstre, Pas-de-Calais, France, on 18 October 1917, the Battle of Passchendaele, West Flanders, on 6 November 1917, the Battle of Méricourt, Pas-de-Calais, on 25 January 1918, the Battle of Liévins-Lens, Pas-de-Calais, on 27 February 1918, the Battle of Neuville-Vitasse, Pas-de-Calais, on 11 April 1918, and the Battle of Amiens, Picardy, France, on 8 August 1918. He was killed in action on 27 August 1918 at the Battle of Chérisy, France, during the Allied offensive from Neuville-Vitasse towards Wancourt.
