Photo of Ernest Alfred Davison
Ernest Alfred Davison - as a young man enlisting to serve in the Boer War with the South Notts Hussars. This is the only picture my mother has found of him. He emigrated to Canada in 1913 then enlisted in 1914 with PPCLI as an Original. Sadly died in Courcelette in France. I would love to track down more pictures of him. -
Memorial
His name as it is inscribed on the Vimy Memorial. Over 11,000 fallen Canadians having no known place of burial in France, are honoured on this Memorial. May they never be forgotten. (J. Stephens) -

Source: Library and Archives Canada. CIRCUMSTANCES OF DEATH REGISTERS, FIRST WORLD WAR. Surnames: Dack to Dabate. Microform Sequence 26; Volume Number 31829_B016735. Reference RG150, 1992-93/314, 170. Page 1113 of 1140. His grave was located between Pozieres and Courcelette, but the exact location was unknown and the grave could not be located after the Armistice. Hence his sacrifice is commemorated on the VIMY MEMORIAL. -
