Baptized Joseph-Ludger-Étienne Goulet. Son of Étienne Goulet and Ophilia Martel, of Laurierville, Mégantic, Québec.

Enlisted in the 22nd Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force, he sailed for Great Britain on May 20, 1915, and landed in Plymouth, England, on the 29th. On September 15, he left Folkestone for France and arrived in Boulogne, Pas-de-Calais, the same day. He was initially reported killed between September 14 and 16, 1916, but on October 23, he was recognized as having been killed in action on September 15, 1916.
