This photo and article about Lance Sergeant Charles Francis Routledge appeared in the Toronto Evening Telegram on May 8th, 1918. Routledge's mother had recently been presented with her son's Distinguished Conduct Medal. He received this medal for his bravery when he alone brought in a Lewis machine gun and prevented it from being captured by the enemy. In honoured memory. -
Inscription
His name as it is inscribed on the Vimy Memorial (2010). Over 11,000 fallen Canadians having no known place of burial in France, are honoured on this Memorial. May they never be forgotten. (J. Stephens) -
