Ernest Jolicoeur (1892-1915) of the 13th Battalion, Royal Highlanders of Canada.
Son of Télésphore Jolicoeur & Elmina Bédard.
Born in Ottawa, Ontario on 31 August 1892.
He joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force on 24 September 1914.
In the fall of 1914, he was promoted to sergeant. This photo appears to date from that time.
As of 15 March 1915 he reverted to the ranks at his own request, in the field, in France.
On 15 July 1915, the 13th Battalion was at Ploegstreet and its War Diary indicates that
Private E. Jolicoeur was accidentally shot in the head and died of wounds an hour later.

STRAND MILITARY CEMETERY Belgium
STRAND MILITARY CEMETERY is located 13 Km south of Ieper town centre, on the Rijselseweg N365, which connects Ieper to Wijtschate, Mesen and on to Armentieres. From Ieper town centre the Rijselsestraat runs from the market square, through the Lille Gate (Rijselpoort) and directly over the crossroads with the Ieper ring road. The road name then changes to the Rijselseweg.
The STRAND MILITARY CEMETERY lies on the N365, 4 Km beyond Mesen and immediately before the village of Ploegsteert on the left hand side of the road.
