Enlisted for the first time on 1 June 1941 with the Rimouski Battalion, he never received any training with this unit. He enlisted a second time on the 5th with the Voltigeurs de Québec, declaring that he was born on 29 September 1922. He left for Great Britain on 23 July 1943, then for Italy the following 24 September. He was transferred to the Royal 22e Régiment on 5 November 1943. He fought in the capture of the Gustav and Hitler Lines, Borgo Santa Maria, Gradara, Cattolica, San Mauro and Cesena, where he was killed in action on 19 October 1944 along the Savio River. He had 1,227 days' service, including 456 overseas. He was temporarily buried on the 20th in Cesena cemetery, grave 6, before being exhumed and reburied in Cesena in the refurbished cemetery.

CESENA WAR CEMETERY Italy
CESENA WAR CEMETERY lies in the Commune of Cesena, in the Province of Forli, and is situated one kilometre north-east of Cesena railway station on the provincial road to Cervia (Route No.71 bis).
If exiting at Cesena from the highway, the sign will be seen for the Cemetery. From the other direction in Cesena, follow the sign to Rimini and then Cervia and the Cemetery will be found on the right.
The CESENA WAR CEMETERY is permanently open and may be visited outside the working hours of the local gardening staff, but will be unmanned.
