This young man had emigrated to Canada, and when war broke out he heard in that place the trumpet-call summoning him to the fight, and he enlisted at once with the 83rd Canadian Batt. He lost his life in the great and ever-memorable battle of the Somme, October 8th 1916, when 28 years old." -
