Baptized Joseph-Alfred-Ernest Dubé. Son of Rébecca Pouliot (deceased in 1894) and Edmond Dubé (remarried in 1902 to Zéphirine Plaisance), of St-Joseph-de-Lévis (Lauzon), Québec.
On 1 February 1918, the 22nd Battalion was in Brigade support trenches near Méricourt and was working to consolidate the positions. Ernest was hit by shrapnel. He was evacuated to No. 57 Casualty Clearing Station in Ansin-St-Aubin, near Arras, where he died three days later. English:
